Here are some suggestions for Resolutions for your business! We've put together these resolutions to help you systematically and effectively expand your circle of business associates and customers. Remember: the more front doors you put out there, the more chances opportunity will knock. Your mission: to make as many business contacts as possible. Ready, set, repeat: 1. "I resolve to introduce myself to three new people every week, asking them to tell me about their themselves or their business without trying to sell my product or service to them." Rather than trying to sell, sell, sell...just learn. It expands your network, making it easier to accomplish resolution two... 2. "I resolve to be a facilitator of introductions." Don't be concerned about what's in it for you. Instead, build goodwill by bringing others together to do business. 3. "I resolve to be a better listener." Listening to people ...really listening...is rather difficult. Give people your full attention by practicing what is called 'reflective listening.' Simply repeat back to the speaker a summary of what they just said. 4. "I resolve to make my clients feel special by sending them hand-signed cards in the mail that commemorate our relationship and thank them for their business." Be grateful to all clients who have shown you their support through continued patronage. People like to feel appreciated. 5. "I resolve to read, clip and forward articles that may be of interest to clients/customers, prospects and associates." Again, this shows that you're thoughtful and that you care about these people. Magazines with especially useful articles for business owners include Fast Company and Entrepreneur's Business Start-Ups. 6. "I resolve to attend at least one industry event this month." Take a stack of business cards and introduce yourself to everyone with the line, "Hi, I'm {your name here}. Tell me about your business." These eight words work miracles. 7. "I resolve to follow up on every single business card I collect." Whether you call, write, fax, email or send smoke signals, don't let any contact languish. It's your responsibility to follow-through. They may not be a potential client, but their boss, spouse, brother, accountant or best friend might become your biggest account. 8. "I resolve to volunteer for a charitable cause." The worst thing that could happen is that you do a little good for your community. The best? You do a lot of good for your community, expand your contact base, and meet some terrific people! 9. "I resolve to be good to my employees." If you think wishing your employee a happy birthday is a nice gesture, you're right. But giving them a card is better. You can even send them cards for important anniversaries or to show appreciation for work that is done well. A happy employee is more productive and loyal. ** Remember that personal networking is an important and often neglected part of sales and marketing.
